    the MAD hoff bit...
Just wanted to say that I think I will go off and do an immense ponzi scheme and live in luxury until I am in my 70s...then do time as I will be assured of a hot meal every day and medical care on the state...

    At Coffee
Sunday June 28 from 2 to 4 pm. (yep, it will be a short one because we both get tired).

    (303) 860-7166

    Courage
I just signed a letter of commendation applauding brave members of the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAGs) who refused to carry out orders to torture detainees at Guantanamo and other prisons, and who spoke out in defense of basic human rights. Check out their stories at http://www.commoncause.org/JAGstories and sign the letter at http://www.commoncause.org/JAGthanks. The letter is going to be delivered on the 4th of July, so please sign it today and let other folks know about it too. Thanks!

I want a choice of Pain Meds
    Here is what I wrote:

Please change your policies to allow these opiods on the market and warn people about their dangers.

Just imagine that someone is hitting your head every 5 minutes with a hammer. Now, you can stop that (for a little while) with a drug that might give you a heart attack in 10 or 20 years or you can just endure someone hitting your head every 5 minutes. I'll take the heart attack in 10 years for just a few hours of comfort now.

    Thank you.

The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) may remove important pain medications from the market or could very likely limit access to certain pain medications that are currently legally prescribed to millions of Americans suffering from pain.

The FDA needs to hear how vital access to these medications is to people with pain and what tragic results could occur if they were denied access to these medications or if additional barriers were created making access more difficult for people who are legally prescribed these medications.

    ACTION REQUESTED

Send a letter to the FDA sharing your story about how their decisions would impact you or your loved one. The FDA MUST receive your letters by Tuesday, June 30th, so don’t delay.

Had the day from hell, starting with losing her green notebook with all of the information needed to make tomorrow's deadline, vomiting in the car on the way to work, spending 2 hours getting the car detailed, cleaning up frantically trying to find the damn notebook, getting a $600 bill for the crown without anesthesia, etc.

Why is the Senate laughing at a workable, common sense proposal to solve the health care crisis--a single payer system that works in other countries such as Australia? Could it be that if there is only one non-profit payer, then the millions of dollars the Senators get in contributions from the greedy profit players now would disappear? Doesn't our health come before Senators' profits?

See this video of our political system at work--senators laughing at the only option that is not backed by millions in campaign funds--at http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum982.php

I just took a short quiz to learn about the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to “protect us” when we travel. I was very surprised by what I learned. If you travel frequently, you should take this quiz:
    http://action.aclu.org/travel_quiz

    Here are a couple questions:

True or false? Border security can seize your laptop, cell phone or camera with no suspicion or explanation.

True or false? Many airports use scanners that conduct a virtual "strip search" of passengers.

True or false? There are over one million names on the terrorist watch list.

Take the quiz to find out the answers.

    Help Stop Global Warming
    Hi--
We need a clean energy economy to tackle global warming and create green jobs, and we need it now. I just sent a registered a public comment with the EPA in support of the agency's recent action on curbing greenhouse gas emissions, and you should too.

    Try Bush for War Crimes
During the last 8 years, terrible crimes were committed in our name. New memos just released by the Obama Administration show that torture and other crimes were not only condoned, but encouraged by key Bush appointees. It's time to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and bring to justice those responsible.

Can you help me ask the Attorney General to appoint a special prosecutor?

email Dianne Degette re health care

CHOICE: Americans deserve the right to choose their own healthcare. Congress must act to give Americans more choices for their personal healthcare by allowing open-access to a public healthcare option like Medicare. Limiting choice to for-profit insurance only is the same broken healthcare system we have right now.

COMPETITION: A public healthcare option would bring new competition into the market driving lower prices and incentives for better service and care. The more healthcare choices we have the harder the healthcare supplier will work to be chosen.

COMFORT: There is no need to create something new or unfamiliar to the American people. Americans already know about for-profit insurance and they already know about public healthcare options like Medicare. Medicare has been around for over 40 years; now we need to make a public option available to everyone.

A public option is the only way to guarantee healthcare for all and its inclusion in any healthcare legislation passed this year is non-negotiable.

    seeking advertisers
Well, we've decided to do something about the economy and the internet advertising slump. MJ is feeling a bit better and may even go outside the house occasionally. And I am working and doing the pool, so I am out a bit. And we spend so much time in the hospitals that we should capitalize on it a bit (literally)...

We've decided that I am going to shave my head as well and we are going to seek sponsors. We will have their logos and message tattooed on our heads for a month. We are going to put a message up on http://www.emptyspaces.eu/. I know, this is a European site, but I couldn't find an American one, and who knows, maybe these guys need some American exposures. And we can provide that...

    How does this sound:

    Advertisement Type: Other
    Coverage: US
    Advertisement Cost: $20.00
    Duration: 1 month

Details: We will temporarily tattoo your logo on our bald heads. As we are mostly in medical facilities, you can target a captive medical audience. We will also display your ad in professional meetings and consultations at the exciting Bureau of Reclamation. Great deal, get two heads for one!!!!

    Um.... April Fools.
Hope you had a great day--let us know about your pranks because we need all the laughs we can get.

    John Kennedy died March 18
Many of you know him from the Mile Hi Cons and science fiction writers. He had fourth stage cancer--eerily enough at Kaiser, so we were sort of in the same circles there.

Not that we have it to spare, but it helps to plug into the word...
Lately I've been donating a bit to www.kiva.org

They give microloans to people in developing countries, and it is a great way to actually help someone. You are the banker--you look at their business plans and decide who to loan to. Then you get notices of when they have paid back the loan and you can either take the money out--or loan it again.

These are no interest loans, but ya know, you don't get much more than that at the bank, and the dividends are in satisfaction.

for all you gardeners out there
i uncovered my crocuses, they are blooming and oh so pretty. My faves are the purple and white striped ones. And I see the little beaks of hyacinths and the sinuous green of the tulips...

But I didn't leave them any mulch. And now I'm worried.... should I worry? Should I cover up my little ones?

I took the 43 Things Personality Quiz and found out I'm a
    Self-Improving Extroverted Money Manager

What vaguely upsets me is "0% of the 31037 people who have taken this quiz are like you."
